A competitor starting today is 12 months behind on day one.

NOAA's Severe Weather Data Inventory is a free permanent government database containing 25 years of NEXRAD radar hail signatures. HailTrace and Hail Recon pay to license equivalent data from the University of Oklahoma's MRMS system. To switch to SWDI they would need to rebuild their entire radar pipeline, re-architect their product, and explain to their customers why their data source just changed.

A new competitor could theoretically do what we did. But they are starting from scratch. And HailTrace cannot unwind their existing cost structure without significant disruption to their business.

Storm History Replay captures a snapshot of all active hail threats across the United States every 30 minutes and stores them in Cloudflare KV. Contractors can replay any past storm system on an animated map, watch it build and move in real time, and pull homeowner property records directly from the replay.

This means storms from days or weeks ago remain actionable opportunities. A contractor who missed Tuesday's storm can work it on Thursday with the same speed advantage as if they had caught it live. No other platform in the roofing space has this capability.

The AI panel is powered by Anthropic's Claude and pulls live XWeather storm data in real time before generating each email. Hail Recon has some property data but charges $799 per year extra per state for bulk downloads. No email from the app. No AI. No postcards. No Storm History Replay. Their Google Play rating is 2.2 stars.

HailWatch has SWATH maps and a separate direct mail service. They require two different vendors, two different logins, and two different bills to do what Storm Sniper™ does in one session.

No competitor has the full workflow in one platform. That is the entire competitive position.

Three things. First, they would need to build integrations with Regrid, Melissa Data, Resend, Xpressdocs, and Anthropic AI — each with its own authentication, rate limiting, billing, and error handling. That is 12 to 18 months of engineering work on a platform not designed for it.

Second, they would need to rebuild their billing system to support the credits model, the tier structure, and the per-record pricing. Their current product is subscription-only.

Third, their existing subscribers expect a weather data product. Repositioning as a full workflow platform risks confusing their current customer base while they are still trying to attract new ones.

ABC Supply has over 900 locations. Beacon has 533. SRS Distribution has 430. Gulfeagle has 135. That is more than 2,000 branch locations combined. Each one serves dozens of roofing contractors every single day.

A supply house partnership means Storm Sniper™ goes from a product you sell to a product contractors already trust when they walk through the door. We project churn at 5 percent per month in the early stage, declining to 3 percent as the property history cache compounds. The cache is the key retention mechanic. Every property a contractor pulls is saved for 365 days and served free on the next pull. The longer they use Storm Sniper™, the more of their market is pre-loaded in their history at no cost. Canceling means losing that free data asset. That is a real switching cost that increases with tenure.

Hail is not a random event. The United States averages between 3,000 and 6,000 significant hail events per year. The Midwest and Southeast have reliable hail seasons from March through October. Even in below-average storm years, the volume of hail events creates enough opportunity for contractors in any major market.

The historical data feature also addresses this directly. Contractors can work storms from the previous 12 to 36 months depending on their state's insurance claim window. A slow storm season does not mean a slow sales season.

Infrastructure cost at launch is approximately $1,500 per month fixed: XWeather at $300, Melissa Data at $200, Cloudflare at $50, and miscellaneous at $50. Variable costs are Regrid at $0.15 per parcel and Melissa at $0.024 per contact enrichment, which we charge through at $0.25 per record combined for a $0.076 margin per record.

Year 3 revenue is $82,892,018 with 29,234 subscribers and net profit of $73,380,003 at 89 percent margin. Three-year cumulative revenue is $95,579,988.

The supply house channel is assumed to close in month 6 of Year 1 at one partner with 50 locations and 20 contractors per location. That adds 1,000 subscribers at $0 CAC ramping over months 7 through 12. Supply house ARPU is modeled at $348 blended, reflecting a tier mix weighted toward Spotter and Chaser.

By year three end, supply house subscribers represent 1,880 of the 29,234 total and generate $8,617,920 in ARR. That is one distributor conversation. The model does not include a second supply house partner.

Month 3 is the projected cash flow positive point on direct sales alone. Five subscribers at the blended ARPU covers the $1,500 monthly fixed cost. From month 3 forward the direct sales channel is self-funding. The supply house channel adds a step change in revenue in month 7 that takes the business to $38,000 net profit in that single month.

Onboarding is self-serve. A contractor signs up, receives their license key by email in under two minutes, pastes it into the app, and can pull their first property list within 30 minutes. No sales call required. No setup wizard.

Stripe handles all billing in live production mode. Contractors enter their card at signup and are charged monthly on their billing anniversary date. The Stripe Customer Portal gives subscribers self-serve access to update their payment method, view invoices, and manage their subscription. Tier upgrades and downgrades are processed through the portal immediately.

License keys are generated and delivered by email automatically on successful payment. The system has no human touchpoints in the billing flow.

The NEXRAD fetch system splits large requests into a 2-degree grid with up to 25 parallel sub-requests to avoid NOAA rate limits. XWeather handles live hail data at 1 million API calls per month on the Flex plan.

Yes. Stripe is in live production mode. Real money. Real cards. The subscription billing, tier pricing, and add-on credit purchase flow are all fully built and functional. Each tier has a live Stripe price ID. The webhook system handles subscription events, payment failures, and credit purchases. The customer portal is connected for subscribers who want to manage their own billing. We are running one end-to-end payment test before launch using a 100 percent off coupon to verify the full flow from signup through key delivery through billing.

Property records used in Storm Sniper™ come from Regrid, which aggregates publicly recorded parcel data from county assessor offices. This is the same data used by insurance companies, real estate platforms, and appraisers. It is public record. Contact data comes from Melissa Data, a licensed data broker operating under standard industry compliance.

Contractors are responsible for complying with CAN-SPAM for email outreach and applicable state laws for phone contact. We make the tools. The contractor controls the outreach.

Regrid is the highest-risk single dependency. If Regrid significantly raises their per-parcel price, the unit economics change. Mitigation: the property history cache means previously pulled parcels are served free on repeat pulls, reducing ongoing Regrid spend as the platform matures. We are also evaluating ATTOM Data and CoreLogic as alternative parcel sources.

XWeather is locked at $300 per month on the Flex plan with 1 million calls per month. That is a fixed cost regardless of subscriber count. Melissa Data has a stable pricing model. The risk exists but it is manageable and we have alternatives for each dependency.

The current Regrid JWT token expires April 17, 2026. Go-live is April 18. If that token lapses before renewal, every property lookup fails silently with no error shown to the user. This is on the calendar. It is a 10-minute task. Log into regrid.com, generate a new JWT, update the environment variable in Cloudflare Workers. It is not a systemic risk. It is an operational task with a clear deadline.

NOAA has operated the Severe Weather Data Inventory since 2001 and it is funded as part of the National Centers for Environmental Information infrastructure. There is no indication of deprecation. If NOAA altered or shut down SWDI, we would lose the free radar layer and would need to license MRMS data like our competitors do, which would increase our cost structure. We would still have a complete workflow platform. We would just lose the structural cost advantage on the radar data. Low probability, known mitigation path.

Every property record pulled from Regrid is saved to Cloudflare KV with a 365-day expiration. The next time a contractor pulls properties in the same zone, we check the cache first by parcel ID. Properties already owned are served free. Only new parcels are charged. As the platform matures, this cache becomes genuinely valuable. A market with heavy storm activity will have a large percentage of its most relevant parcels already in the history cache. That means lower per-pull Regrid costs and higher effective margin. It also creates a data asset and a real switching cost. Canceling means losing the free data cache.

The platform is fully built. It is not a pitch deck or a prototype. It is running in production on Cloudflare, connecting 9 live data sources, processing real Stripe transactions, generating AI emails from live XWeather data, snapshotting hail threats every 30 minutes, and serving a world-class help center with 68 articles. A solo founder built that. That is evidence of execution, not just intention.

Al Morell handles sales and business development, so it is not entirely solo on the go-to-market side. The plan is to hire a technical co-founder or senior developer as the first use of investment capital.

Al Morell is the Sales and Business Development partner through the Morell Group. He handles roofing industry relationships, contractor outreach, trade show presence, and partnership development. Al has existing relationships with roofing contractors across the Midwest and Southeast. Those relationships are the source of the early subscriber pipeline. The first 20 to 30 subscribers come through his network before any paid acquisition is run.

Today one person handles everything. Technology, support, billing, vendor relationships, and content. At 100 subscribers we need part-time customer support. At 250 we need a full-time developer to handle feature development and reduce key-person risk. At 500 we need a dedicated customer success person and a more formal support system. The infrastructure scales automatically. The cost of adding subscribers is minimal on the technical side. The hiring plan is funded by subscription revenue, not by burning investment capital on headcount before the revenue exists.

Immediate post-launch priorities are connecting the Campaign panel to the bulk email system, adding AI streaming so emails generate progressively rather than all at once, and building the email template picker for contractors who want to customize their outreach style. Medium-term priorities include a contractor territory map with storm alert emails and white label capability for roofing marketing agencies. Prioritization is simple: does this feature increase subscriber retention or increase average revenue per user? Those come first.

Xpressdocs is a direct mail fulfillment company. The integration allows contractors to send physical postcards to every homeowner in their storm zone directly from within Storm Sniper™ without ever leaving the platform. The worker endpoint is built. The authentication flow is complete. We are waiting on production credentials from our Xpressdocs contact, Gretchen Kaufman. No other roofing intelligence tool has direct postcard campaign capability built into the same workflow as storm detection and email outreach.

The most likely exit is a strategic acquisition by a company that wants to expand into the roofing market or add storm intelligence to an existing field service platform. The realistic candidates are HailTrace, EagleView, ServiceTitan, CoreLogic, or Verisk. Timeline target is 3 to 5 years. Get to $6M to $12M ARR. That puts the platform in the range where a strategic acquirer would pay 8 to 12x ARR, which translates to $48M to $144M.

The 6 to 9x range applies at scale, not today. Pre-revenue valuation is 3 to 4x forward ARR with premium adjustments for the AI integration, data moat, and workflow depth. That puts the current range at $2.5M to $5.5M. The 6 to 9x range is the target multiple at $6M to $12M ARR with demonstrated retention and NRR expansion. Storm Sniper™ has been deliberately engineered to hit every premium driver: AI integration, vertical workflow, proprietary data source, credits model for NRR expansion, and real switching costs.

The replacement cost floor is real. A buyer would need to spend $475,000 to $950,000 just to rebuild what Storm Sniper™ already has in production. That is the floor on the asset value before you factor in any revenue. In a stress scenario where growth is significantly slower than projected, the platform still has value as an acquisition target for its technology, its data integrations, and its market position. Map-only competitors would pay to acquire the full workflow capability rather than build it.

Three honest answers. First, if we cannot get to 50 subscribers in the first 6 months, the sales execution is weaker than the product execution and we have a go-to-market problem. Mitigation is Al Morell's industry relationships and a referral program that turns early subscribers into advocates. Second, if churn is significantly higher than 5 percent per month, either the product is not delivering enough value or we are targeting the wrong customer profile. We will know this by month 4. Third, if a well-funded competitor launches a feature-equivalent platform before we reach $1.5M ARR, the competitive window closes faster than planned. That is the race we are running right now.

One reason not to invest: this is a solo-founded pre-revenue company in a niche market with real key-person risk and weather-dependent demand. If you need proven revenue and a full team before you write a check, this is not the right moment for you.
